Talking Trek Wars (Old Feed)

The WHOLE crew is back together today, finally.  Since it has been a while, the guys all catch you, and each other, up on what has been happening with them.  They of course bring up with is going on with all the sports and pop culture items they have missed.  Don’t miss the end; one of the guys give an amazing highlight/lowlight, depending on which side of the table you are on, of the brief hiatus.  Welcome back, and enjoy the show

This week Berg & Big Cat are on their own as The General is off on deployment.  They bounce back and forth between some serious topics, such as the death of Nelson Mandela, to the entertaining, the fake signer at his funeral.  Berg expresses his unexpected Holiday Hangover, this is very troubling for someone who LOVES Christmas and the Holidays.  They guys also can’t help but talk about the great start of the Blazers.  Can it last?  Hollywood, well Universal Studios, has a problem.  Paul Walker’s untimely death has left a hole in the center of a major summer blockbuster.  They guys discuss what is the best course of action for fixing the major plot hole.  Sit back, listen, and enjoy this week’s show, lazily titled TITLE

This week we begin busting The Generals balls about last week’s paragraph. We proceed on with the show discussing college football, rec league etiquette, Thanksgiving and tragedy of Paul Walker’s untimely death. The gang pretty much run the gambit of topics and we finally end on discussing an article about what is wrong with Agent’s of Shield. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.

KAPPOW, the whole crew finally managed to be present for a show for the second time in almost two months.  The guys start off discussing what they have been up too for the last few weeks.   Somehow, in true funny fashion, that leads the deep philosophical questions of proper work farting etiquette.  We are sure you will disapprove of our conclusions, so please let us know how it should be done.  We then talk about the most important story in the country this week, the spotting of the first real life superhero in San Francisco, the BatKid.  While no subject can top that, we have to move on to lesser topics.  If we are going down hill, we head for the bottom when the question is posed, when is it ok to streak bust?  So when all else fails, remember Batkid to the Rescue.

This week the General and Berg are on their own. That's right, The Cat's Away so the boys will talk baseball!! After a little post World Series and off season talk the guys then bring back the old segment, What's Happening in Portland. We cover everything that our minimal effort searches could come up with. Museums, comedy, movies and the like. Ultimately we end on recent movie trailers and our tentative optimism for next years movie season, and a reminder of what day this falls on.

This week the whole crew is in the house.  We made it two in a row, yet our streak will end at that.  We dive into the wide world of sports this week.  The albatross of a call that was obstruction to end a world freakin series game and how utterly unacceptable that was.  While on the topic of baseball, they guys weigh in on the proposed baseball stadium in Portland.  Seeing how this is completely logical and makes sense, we all know how the politicians will screw it up.  Berg and Big Cat just cannot contain their excitement for the epic cinematic masterpiece that was “Escape Plan”, Mills isn’t convinced.  We end the show talking about two instances in high school football across the country that shows just how far we as a country have fallen.  The pansies have won.  We are now a nation of pussies.  Good job everyone; we have all failed at life.

The whole crew is back this week.  Berg is fresh back from his first vacation in a long while, he is back from SoCal.  This provides a hotbed of topics for multiple of our classic detours and rants.  We check in on the state of the World Series, and a few of the happenings of the NFL.  The show is all over the place, but a good time all around.  So sit back listen and find out why we are asking “Why Doohan?”

The full crew is back for this episode. The General starts with his personal apology for the events of the 30th episode. We then take a dive down the rabbit hole with an argument on architecture. Weird?! To get back on track the age old question is posed of can you “love” both Star Wars and Star Trek? After some more movie talk we then delve into sports to round out this episode. Listen and Enjoy, “It’s a Tarp!”

Berg and Big Cat are on their own this week.   They start off the show addressing the intentionally missing 30th episode.  They each then bring a critically panned movie to the table, which they defend as actually being a good movie.  Do you agree with their arguments? They also give their initial reactions to the new ABC show Marvel: Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.  Big Cat can’t help be vent about the state of his rental unit, and updates everyone on the state of the affairs.  They wrap up the show with a philosophical question: Why do we podcast?  So sit back, listen, and enjoy the show.

The whole crew is here this week.  Mills is fresh off his session with longtime friend of the show “Satan” aka tattoo artist extraordinaire Gene Hannan.  After recounting the experience the night before, including Gene and Berg having to recount their interesting night, Berg and Mills each talk about their future plans for body art.  The general gets the second DUI story on the record.  Big Cat brings up one of the first signs of the apocalypse, Christmas shit up in stores mid-September.  We end the show with probability the most important public service announcement ever on Funny.  So check it out, and let us know what you think

The whole crew is in tow, with a semi guest.  She claims she is going to abstain from participating, but the guys get her involved once or twice.  The General starts the show off with a fairly reasonable rant on the current trend of charity fads, in addition to their in ability to look at a calendar to prevent over stacking of events.  Big Cat wants to know how much technology is too much.  Will the guys be purchasing the new Samsung Gear?  Berg & Big Cat had another Man Date, this time to see Riddick.  Finally, the guys end the show discussing which TV Show or Movie that they would want to see a cast reunion.  Sit back, listen, and enjoy the show.

We kick off this week’s show talking about the about the start of the NFL season.  As per the Guys norm, they each make Super Bowl pick’s in true FUNNY fashion.  Then due to some recent activities, they discuss some proper pre date prep work.  Now that summer is winding down to its final hurrah, the guys discuss what they want to make sure to do before the weather changes.  In addition to the normal tangents and rants, the conversation ends with the question if DVDs are being released too soon.  Sit back, listen, and enjoy the show.

Berg and Big Cat return in an all new episode!  The General is away competing in a Beer Pong tourney in Las Vegas so it’s just the two of us for episode 21.  We start with a catch up of what’s been happening then move in to a mini H.A.R. (Half Assed Review) of The Wolverine.  Which leads us into the rabbit hole that is the worst tweak of a comic book character in a movie?  We talk books and Lance throws out a “mystery” question that Berg is unprepared for, followed by Berg getting on his soap box about a subject.  Finally, we close with a discussion about TV series that need a film to wrap up the storyline.  Listen and enjoy the nerding out episode of Funny.

Welcome back to Funny!  We start out the show discussing the fact that the General is going to Vegas.  With vacation on his mind, he wants to know where we want to travel.  Anywhere in the world, and more importantly why?  We move on to talk about the latest performance enhancement scandal in baseball. This time Ryan Braun is the dumbass, again.  Since we were already on the subject of baseball, Big Cat has the guys play a game of guessing the World Series odd of each team now that the All Star Game has passed.   We were ready on the topic of gambling, so the guys make a bet on the name of the new spawn that could one day be the King of England.  We end the show discussing the just announced Superman/Batman Movie.

The guys all gather together for their weekly chat.  After recapping their activities for the week, and the annoyances that go with it, the guys each pick one minor annoyance in their life that they would gladly eliminate.  Lance tries to discuss work fun work activities, only to find out that both Mills and Berg dislike the “recreational activity” golf.  Since that topic worked out so well, Lance tries again, this time discussing TV pilots.  What are each of the guys looking for in a pilot and what makes it good?  Once they lay out what they are looking for in a pilot, they list some of their favorite pilots of the past that never succeeded as a series.  Conversely, they discuss some HORRIBLE pilots that end up leading into long running series.  Listen, Enjoy, and let us know what you think.

After a brief hiatus we are back and better than ever.  We come to you today from the newly christened “Berg & Big Cat’s BBQ & Rib Joint”, yes Lance and Berg have moved in together, let the jokes begin.  Lance’s brother has a minor Firework situation develop; it paled in comparison to Semi Valleys mishap. However, that lead the guys to discuss, what is the stupidest thing you have done, or have personally seen done, involving fireworks.  Two of the three guys have great stories, the other, you be the judge.    Since there has been a living situation change, Berg & Lances made the trek to visit the Swedish paradise, IKEA, this lead to two separate debates.  First, what is the proper TV size for both a Living Room vs the proper size for a Family Room.  The off shoot conversation is; What is the proper height for a bed?  After touching on the NBA free agency frenzy going on, the guys look forward to new movies dropping in July.  Listen and Enjoy!

They guys all meet up at the soon to be Berg & Big Cat Rib Joint to record this week.  They start the show by spinning completely out of control beginning to discuss the food item that they each enjoy that is grossly unhealthy.  Mills uses the show to get some advice from the guys, he poses the question what is an acceptable timeline for dating more than 1 person?  Needless to say, he doesn’t like the advice Berg & Big Cat provide, so please send in the proper responses to our Facebook or Email.  After debating the Aaron Hernandez debacle in New England, the guys have to talk about the national curse that is the Kardashian/West baby Ms North West.  The Anti-Christ has arrived.  They round out the show trying to pick the winner of the next game console war: the Xbox One vs. PS4.  So sit back, listen, and enjoy the show.

Welcome to another miXtape! Yes, it’s late. I’m very sorry for that. This months playlist is in celebration of my birthday. Titled My Day, My Way. This playlist is some songs that I really enjoy and have really enjoyed in the past year since my last birthday. Originally I intended a dirty, fast, and mean sonic assualt. Instead I tried to vary it. It is still very much punk, very much in your face. I do hope you listen and enjoy. It’s a little different. More songs and even some talking. Welcome back to Funny.  This week the guys are all back together.  We start out discussing two important happenings in June we neglected last week.  It is the birthday month of both Berg and the General.  This being his first full summer in the great city of Portland, Mills asks the guys for input on where he should hold his Birthday Shindig.  With some of requirements he is looking for, dinner of the liquid variety, the Guys take a flash back and one up each other with some of their more notorious drinking stories.  They move on to discuss the Naked Bike Ride that just happened in Portland, specifically the problems and discomfort that comes with riding a bike naked.  Finally, the guys discuss their plans for what they are going to do for Father’s Day.  Listen, and enjoy.

This week it is just Lance & Berg, as Mills had a prior commitment.  It is our monthly “What’s Happening” show.  With only two of us, our discussion take NUMEROUS tangents, but still we have our normal fair of events to discuss.  The Rose Festival is still ongoing, and the Grand Floral Parade is Saturday June 8th downtown.  Berg has a couple of concerts that he is planning on checking out, see the list below.  There are also a couple big name Comedians coming to town.  Tracy Morgan will be in town on the 13th at the Newmark Theatre .  Pauly Shore, yes that Pauly Shore, will be at the Harvey's Comedy Club on June 21ST.  Finally, Bill Maher will be cracking wise about politics at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on June 23rd.  We mixed in a little sports talk, we had to after seeing how well the Oregon Colleges are doing in Baseball this spring.  Of course we didn’t forget about the movies.  There is a sure fire Blockbuster, as well as a Casey Movie Pick.

The guys gather together at the General’s pad with a friend of the show, Claire.  She claims she is just there to sit quietly and enjoy the show, but the guys manage to get her to chime in more than she claims she intends.  Lance starts the show by berating Berg and Mills for breaking spoiler protocol last week, then recaps where he was last week that caused him to miss the show.  Then the guys are posed a question; what 5 things they would do if they were invisible for a day.  Needless to say, this topic spiraled out of control rather quickly.  Since we have already gone down the rabbit hole, we continue.  The guys discuss what shitty movie that clearly doesn’t deserve it, but they want to have made.  What movie do you think that the guys missed on?  They end the show “recapping” what they did for Memorial Day.  Give it a Listen, and enjoy.

This week it’s just Berg and the General for episode 12.  The guys are minus Lance as the Big Cat is back east for business and pleasure.  So the guys begin by talking about the past weeks season finales.  Spoiler alert is in effect.  They discuss what pissed them off about a couple of their favorite shows and lament the usual season ending cliffhangers.  (If you haven’t seen How I Met Your Mother Your Mother or Castle yet avoid this show til you do)  This topic spirals and tangents off to shows with satisfactory conclusions and some that missed the mark. We then go into Memorial Day plans and the fact that the General has never been camping!!  By the end it should be evident that we need our third party back.  Enjoy!

Oh, and if the episode sounds a little off or the transitions are a little hard it's all Berg's fault.

The guys gather at Lance’s house today and discuss a very important topic.  Their F*&k it list.  The list of 5 celebrities that if the world conspires in their favor, and they had a chance with, while in a serious relationship, that they would get a free pass with.  Needless to say, the guys all had a very difficult time narrowing their personal list down.  Who is on your list?  Let us know in the comment section below.  Lance is leaving for a trip for the entirety of next week; this prompts him to ask the other guys the items they always forget to pack.  Spurred on by a ridiculous purchase by Lance this week, the guys all chime in on what is the most expensive purchase they have made.  Listen, enjoy, and let us know what you think.

The guys met up at the General’s for their weekly banter.  They begin the show talking about you.  Yes you, the listener.  To be more specific, they discuss the world wide appeal the show is having.  There are listeners from all over the world.  The guys at Funny would love nothing more, other than Kate Upton visit the show, that for you the listener to contact us at afunnypodcast@gmail.com and let us know who you are.  After celebrating you the listener, the guys move onto far less important topics.  Namely, what is the best candy?  Each of the guys weighs in.  Mills tries to class up the show, by transitioning from candy, to fine dining.  What is the favorite fine dining experience in Portland for each of the guys?  We wrap up the show with a philosophical question, if you could be born in any time period in any region, when and where would you want to live?  Let us know what you think in the comment section below, and enjoy the show.

They guys get together for their weekly chat.  They start off recapping the experience going to the Fathom Events playing Star Trek: the Next Generation’s classic two parter “Best of Both Worlds”.  This unique setting allowed plenty of fodder for comedy gold.  After a slight delay, we realize that this is our what’s happening in May show.  On May 26th is the 10k Rum Run in Tualatin, running with the booze involved.  How can that be anything but a good idea?  There are also two comedians coming to town this month, Amy Schumer and Bill Cosby.   If you need some spiritual enlightenment, the Dalai Lama will be in town on the 9th.  Berg and Mills have a concert list coming to town this month for you to check out: Mumford & Sons, Primus, Young Turks, Cake, and Ozomatli.  There is one day in May that you shouldn’t miss; Mother’s Day is May 12th.  If you need an idea for a gift for Mom, check out the Crafty Wonderland.  Mills is in town to be able experience his first Rose Festival.  Instead, he would rather participate in Cosplay at Wondercon NW.  Finally, after getting through the cultural events going on, the guys get into the meat & potato of the happens of May, the Movie Releases.  The guys are stoked for the movie releases.

This week the guys sit down and talk sequels. Not ones that are coming out, but ones that never were made, but should have been. After that we were going to talk about recent NFL moves, but Sean's computer stopped recording. It's all for the best, because it wasn't very funny. After the time lapse, Sean gets talked into doing a porn review. After some hemming and hawing, he double dick verifies Avengers: A Porn Parody from Vivid Superhero. We round the show out trying to decide if Star Wars is more popular than Harry Potter.

Sean Wynn (Sean W), a local comic book store manager, joins us this week. Lance & Sean can't help but bring up comics with Sean W throughout the show. We start off talking about some recent casting Hollywood has done. Now that Megan Fox has been cast as the female lead in Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, read April O'Neil, the guys decide to cast the rest of the movie. As the discussion moves on, the Lone Ranger and white wash casting of Johnny Depp as Tonto is flushed out. Absurd Arguments is back this week, where we argue if you whether you'd rather go to a Ke$ha or Tim McGraw concert and why. After a little more comic book talk, we end the show talking about Star Trek: Into Darkness and who Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing, or at least currently rumored to be playing.

Every first episode of the month we cover a few events in Portland that we're looking forward to. Berg & Sean scour the concert venues for a few shows they're looking forward to checking out. It's March, so you know what that means...St. Paddy's Day! Before your drinking gets too over the top, you can go participate in the Shamrock Run, a charity 5K. Of course there will be some partying and some shenanigans going on at Kell's afterwards. Don't forget that Daylight Savings is on the 10th and we will all be losing a precious hour of sleep. College basketball fans are getting excited that March Madness is coming. Towards the end of the month, the Spring Beer & Wine Festival will take over the Oregon Convention Center. Of course, we can't get together without a few random conversations and sidebars taking place. So we debate the correct way toilet paper should hang and the latest internet sensation, the Harlem Shake.

I love Irish music. What...U2? No, screw those guys! I mean music that has the heart and soul of the Emerald Isle. Music that has bagpipes, fiddles, tin whistles, accordions, and mandolins. Mix that together with some good old punk and you get one hell of a drinking song...or ten. I've compilled ten of my favorite pub songs that you can sing along to and you don't even need to know the words. So pour yourself a pint of Guinness, grab a few friends, and Sláinte! (that's Cheers in Gaelic)

Welcome to FUNNY! a pop culture podcast that makes light of every situation. Thank you to all who followed us from our last endeavor, Taco Tiki Tuesday, and welcome to all our new listeners. We quickly go over why we changed the name. Part of the switch over is a few new FUNNY segments. The first being “Absurd Arguments” tackles the age-old question of what would you rather watch, synchronized swimming or curling. After that we go over what we’ve all been up to during the hiatus. Sean and Lance went to Zwicklemania, while Mills took a trip to LA and got a tattoo. Over the break Lance and Berg saw the latest Die Hard. It had such a big box office, the studio has already green lit the sixth of the series. No plot or story has yet been released, but the guys spit ball some ideas to make the sixth one the most legendary Die Hard to date. Another new segment is “Berg’s Words”. This week Berg hits us with some word association of porn terms. The results are laughable. We wrap up this first episode with a General Musing, from our General Mills. We hope you enjoy and come back for episode 2.
